New Hume & Hovell Track Trip Planner

The Department of Planning and Environment – Crown Lands has unveiled brand new Hume and Hovell Track Trip Planner to guide walkers along the 426km track, following the footsteps of the 1824 explorers Hamilton Hume and William Hovell.

The Hume and Hovell Track covers 426km of scenic landscapes from Yass to Albury, including natural forests, single-track around mountains, alpine streams, crossing swamplands and working farms, providing short to long hiking options. The fully signposted track crosses more than 150 footbridges and boardwalks and runs along river edges, through cool-climate forests, across farmland and along quiet back-country roads. There are numerous campsites making it a perfect distance for hikers to explore.

The new Trip Planner was developed by the Crown Lands Hume & Hovell Track Team who engaged an expert Web Developer to work with the team to produce this valuable resource.

The Trip Planner has a number of interactive features which enables walkers to create their own trip report, select custom start & finish locations and direction of travel, review campsite facilities, locate vehicle access points, produce an elevation plot and identify the ascent & decent each day, plus get current track notifications all on the one platform.

Walkers can create their custom journey and then download a GPX file with this detail so it can be used for offline navigation when on the track.

The Trip Planner also shows ‘short walk’ options and points of interest along the track and links to the main Hume & Hovell Track website for more descriptions, campsite booking information and hiking notes.

The Trip planner also compliments the newly released Map Kits which provides a physical resource that can be used when out on the track. A direct link to purchase the Hume & Hovell Map Kits can be found here: Hume & Hovell Track Map Kit

The maps and digital downloads for the Hume & Hovell Track can be found on our website here: https://www.humeandhovelltrack.com.au/map-kits

The elegant, easy to navigate map kits are also available for $25 at Visitor Centres in Yass, Tumut, Tumbarumba, Albury and Greater Hume, and from Tom's Outdoors at Tumut.
