Track sections

If the challenge of a long-distance walk is calling you, the entire 426km trail takes from 18 to 26 days to complete. Walk it all in one go, or complete the Track section by section, as life allows.

Walkers will enjoy the challenge of taking on one of Australia’s most challenging routes, closely following the trail taken by the original expedition of Hume and Hovell.  On route, you’ll discover the trail’s sweeping diversity - from wetlands to farmlands, forestry routes, even some light rock scrambling and a ferry across the Burrinjuck Dam.

Hikers are rewarded with views over the western face of the Snowy Mountains from Norths Lookout, in Woomargama National Park – the perfect sunrise vantage point to consume your favourite breakfast brew after an overnight stay at Tin Mines Campground. Tour the spectacular limestone formations of Carey’s Cave, in the Wee Jasper valley just off the track. Look past your boots and down into the fast-flowing Tumut River on its swaying suspension bridges. The quiet walker may be fortunate enough to encounter wombats by the water at Paddys River Dam or glimpse a rare black cockatoo in the canopies of Bago StateForest.
