FCNSW Herbicide Spraying - Burra West
Forestry Corporation of NSW has advised that they will be spraying herbicide at the Burra West softwood plantation adjacent to the Hume & Hovell Track during April/May 2026. This operation is to prepare for planting in winter.
Spraying will be via ground-based or helicopter application. Ground based application will be used when spraying within 150m of the walking track.
The following herbicides (commonly used in backyards, recreational areas, and agricultural industries) may be used:
Glyphosate (e.g. Crucial, Glymac Bi Dri)
Metsulfuron Methyl (e.g. Metmac)
Picloram (e.g. Picoflex)
Triclopyr (e.g. Garnisha)
Clopyralid (e.g. Clomac, Lontrel)
Adjuvants (eg: Techdeck, Liase)
The areas undergoing the treatment (shown in yellow on the map below) are located to the north and south of Junction Campsite. Signs will be placed at the entrances when operations are occurring. Please follow all directions regarding entry.

Please note: the Hume & Hovell Track passes through numerous land tenures which means access and management may be impacted by the governing body. This includes chemical usage, harvesting operations, road works and maintenance.
