FCNSW Aerial Herbicide Spraying Operations

Forestry Corporation of NSW has advised that they will be undertaking some aerial herbicide spraying operations in the Wee Jasper area adjacent to the Hume and Hovell Walking Track. Operations will occur between Log Bridge Creek Road and Byes Road and there will be signage in place at entrances to the operation area.

Herbicide will be applied to fire affected and recently harvested areas on State Forest in preparation for replanting. The timing and duration of works is weather dependent and will be via ground-based or helicopter application. Operations will occur in the region between January and May 2024. Some sites may receive one to two treatments throughout this period.

The following herbicides may be used:

  • Glyphosate (eg: Crucial, Glymac Bi Dri)

  • Metsulfuron Methyl (eg: Metmac)

  • Picloram (eg: Picoflex)

  • Triclopyr (eg: Garnisha)

  • Oxyfluorfen (eg: Cavalier)

  • Clopyralid (eg: Clomac, Lontrel)

  • Adjuvants (eg: Techdeck, Liase)

We are advised that these herbicides are commonly used in backyards, recreational areas, and agricultural industries.

Treated areas will be replanted with radiata pine in winter 2024.

The application of herbicide will be occurring in the forested area adjacent to the Hume and Hovell Track highlighted in yellow on the map below. Areas undergoing treatment will be signposted.
