Cooma Cottage is the official start of the Hume & Hovell Track and was the home of Hamilton Hume from 1837 after the completion of the expedition to Port Phillip Bay through to 1873 when he passed away. The cottage is managed by the National Trust with the buildings and grounds open to the public.
